Biography
White often sources inspiration from mulitple cannons of art history, folk art, diasporic mythologies and antiquity. Her 2-D analog collages become peronal explorations of identity, memories, and hybrid traditions. Approaching basic compositions through painterly styles and architectural perspectives, she uses regulating lines layered with relational shapes and other elements - such as light and contrast - to convey multidimensional spaces. White’s work investigates feminine beauty and representation of the sublime through narrative collage. Often manifesting as abstract but biographical tableaux, each work intends to emote an individual or collective story or relatable whimsical experience.
White has had residencies and exhibitions in Texas and California, and has private patrons across the United States. She consistently contributes to organizations as a teaching artist, group facilitator and corporate disruptor..
White is a native Texan who earned her degrees in art history and English from Southern Methodist University Meadows School of Art, Dallas Texas which led her to a prolific career as a public art administrator. For nearly three decades, before committing to her artistic practice full-time, she worked with and advised both public and private organizations in Texas, DC, California, Alabama and the Carolinas. White is a partner consultant with other design teams and arts management firms, and maintains an independent arts management consultancy and studio practice.
